Late October to Bermuda??

I am contemplating leaving eastern LI (essentially Newport, RI) around Oct 21 for Bermuda. The thought would be to leave the boat in Bermuda for a month and then sail to the Caribbean in early Dec. My crew are pushing back, suggesting that the weather will be poor, based on the NARC 2011 experience and Don Street's article suggesting Sept to Bermuda. However, Street overlooks (1) the prospect of hurricanes hitting Bermuda in Sept/Oct and (2) that late October is not late November. Seems to me that late Oct threads the needle between subtropical lows forming off Hatteras and hurricane season. I assume that others have thought about this and would appreciate any input. B
