Marinas / Moorings in Tortola or Near By - Suggestions

Hello,
We are in the process of buying a Leopard 40 Sailing Cat in Tortola. We have considered staying in the area until it is time to take off due to the hurricane season. Aside for a short visit to the Moorings base and the Nanny Cay marina, we have not seen any other locations. Can somene suggest some other locations on Tortola or any of the other islands in the BVI or the USVI for that matter?
Thank you all.

Donna

Hi Meduf
if you were to stay at any of the marinas in Roadtown they are fairly sheltered unless you got a direct hit, but even then you are protected from the seas. And while you are there you should check in with Customs. If you stay longer than a month you will be required to purchase extra permits and things. Make sure you get all your paperwork done with Customs and immigration as they don't take kindly to aberrant behaviour!

Will do, Jim. We were there for a week and immigration was really cool about letting us stay for a month just to look for boats. Looks like a fairly easy process when you get off the puddle jumper as long as your immigrations person is not in a bad mood. LOL

White Bay in Jost Van Dyke is one of the prettiest beaches in the world. On Tortola, Cane Garden Bay is worth a visit, as is Trellis Bay. Trellis Bay is an easy walk from the airport.
