Miss Cruising Abaco

We started our sailing journey from Fort Lauderdale last year and explored Abaco and then Eleuthera -- until we had a problem with our windlass and had to go back to Fort Lauderdale. Now we are back at it, sailed from Fort Lauderdale to Chub Cay, but had the clocking wind made it tough... now we are in Nassau... and again, the clocking wind is a pain -- and lack of anchorages. Abaco was so much easier, and there was always a place to anchor (that wasn't too far away).

Is Abaco okay to cruise again? We don't need any "amenities" or marinas - just a fuel dock once in a while.

All said on the forum says OK. I've been watching for comments, because I love the Abaco/Eleuthera areas.

Then you’ll be fine! Fuel is still Jerry Jugs for the time being.

Green Turtle Club Marina is currently open with slips, water and diesel. More facilities will be coming online as the weeks go by, too. I am planning on sailing to the Abacos in March for a couple of months.

Re: Miss Cruising Abaco

I had heard that Maxwell’s in Marsh Harbor was open. Is that true?
Would it be best for us to give it a pass, or would it be better for us to spend some money there?
I don’t want to make any kind of burden on anyone there, but sometimes money spent in the area does help.

Maxwells is absolutely open, fully stocked and operating daily. I think that Abaconians would greatly appreciate any and all visitors contributing to the local economy.
