But that's a completly different area? Punta Sal is near the Rio. Sailing out to the Vivarillos keeps you off shore from the poor Nicaraguans with rusty pistoles

Yes, Punta Sal is between the Rio and Utila...lots of problems there.

On our 2012 route to Providencia we sailed very close to Vivarillos, so were well off the Nica coast, but didnt stop there.
