Some may disagree but I think it's relevant here since
Grenada
is a fairly popular cruising
destination
and she was killed near a popular harbor. This seems to have been a senseless attack. It's commendable however that authorities were able to quickly apprehend a suspect.
Much as we all like deserted beaches there is clearly some
safety
in numbers.

Already have one, comes in handy for
security
everywhere - even if just letting fresh air in w/out sleeping in a wide open
boat

Agreed - and not just islanders. All I'm saying is we're looking at a LOT of reports if we start
posting
crimes and murders against tourists in all countries where there's cruisers or sailors ...

Someone feels they get to decide what gets discussed by the rest of us. If not it annoys them, yet they still read and reply to it.

Re: Murder in Grenada
What I read was he was recently released from prison after serving a 15 yr sentence for murder and rape of a child also I think US citizen.
He turned himself in to the Police I think.

If you're talking about me: nope, not annoyed nor trying to tell others what to post - just trying to
work
out what people want to know, and what not. What posts / reports are considered helpful / important, and which aren't? That way, I know what news (not) to post here.

Re: Murder in Grenada
So... when you are on land the criminals care if you are a cruiser or not? I think
security
as a whole needs to be taken into consideration. Unless of course we should only post murders that happen on
boats
- otherwise you are just a tourist.
Anyhow, when I posted this question one of those stories were on the net.

I do not believe they were cruisers or sailors, just tourists.
Machetes are called "cutlasses" in that part of the world, so maybe that caused the confusion.

Re: Murder in Grenada
I am in
Grenada
at the moment, and all people are quite upset at the recent
events
. The first lady killed was Canadian (not that it matters) as am I. Her death was a road traffic
accident
, which while tragic is not the same as last week's incedent at La Sargess.

Re: Murder in Grenada
That's good information. We LOVE Grenada so it would be a shame if it were a crime trend.
