Nassau to Sampson Cay, Bahamas

Helllo all,

Have six foot draft on vessel and was wondering if safe to travel banks from nas to sampson cay. I know i might need to dodge a coral head here or there but was wondering the overall safety. thanks a bunch

Assuming you have good light, good charts, good weather, shouldn't be a problem.

As Tom indicates, six foot draft will be at the deeper end of OK.

No problem. If you're worried about coral heads in the Yellow Bank go south between the Yellow and White Banks till you're clear of the heads but many folks go over the Yellow Bank with 6 ft.

If you do the Yellow Banks, be sure and wait for good visibility and reasonable sea state.

There are more coral heads scattered about than the chart would suggest, but they are easily negotiable with good conditions.
