GV = Grande-Voile = main sail.

So it sounds as though the boat still has sails up - that might explain how it ended up so far north west.

Re: Overdue RED HEOL sailing between Portugal and Azores

I am sorry to inform that the Icelandic coastguard received a signal from the sailboat "Red Hélo" this morning, southwest from Grindvik, Iceland. They also think they have found wreckage at shore that indicates it is from the same sailboat. (If I can be at any assistance let me know)

In icelandic news today. Translation available at "google translate" or contact me.

My first post seems to have vanished or I am just not familiar with the message board."

I am sorry to deliver this message but this morning the Icelandic coastguard picked up a signal from the yacht Red Héol (EPIRB) at the shore southwest of Grindavík, Iceland. They also think they have found part of the wreck. If somebody close, (relative/friends) needs further information and I can help please don't hesitate to contact me
