Panama Canal Delay Down to Two Weeks !

The delay was up to 2 months just a few weeks ago, but we just this moment recieved our tranist date and its only 14 days after the payment date (today).

We arrived in Colon on monday, did the paperwork tuesday, waited for measurment wednesday and got it done today (thursday) and get through in 14 days.

Yippee!!!!!!

The whole reason for the delays is still a subject of discussion... it could have been a pay dispute, or the other story is that the filming of the latest James Bond film caused a problem. They needed a marina full of boats so they offered everyone here $100 per day to keep their yacht at the marina. So 35 yachts cancelled their Panama transits till after the filming. Pissed the locals of no end. So they were only putting 3 yachts through per 3 days. Now its 3 boats per day, every day.

Good to see the glass at half full. Perhaps they can fix the empty part and soon make things 100%?

“Quantum of Solace”, number 22 in the bond film series, has locations shot in Casco Viejo, the Bay of Panama, and Colon. Colon will be the site of a boat chase, which will appear in the film as the beaches of Haiti.

It must be great to have the paperwork out of the way, and headed to your destination. BEST WISHES on a smooth transition through the canal, and the rest of the journey. How did the young lady like the trip?

P.S.,

If this is not to personal. What's the cost for your boat, and have you heard any prices on 46, or there about cats for the canal?

She's lapping it up! Been playing with dolphins and tuna and sails and the lots. She's absolutly been loving it!

The boats here are a bit more serious than the boats in the Caribbean. Not so many cats and everyone looks a bit more fitted out and the cruisers at the bar a bit more self assured and relaxed. Nice mob with no pretensions.

Prices on boats on the mooring list just look at Yachtworld and deduct 10%. That will be pretty close. There are bargains to be had... well there must be becasue we 'hear' of them. But the 'hearing' is second or third or fourth hand.... You could be waiting a hundred years for the deal of the century
