Parking a boat in New England for a month or 2?

Dear Members:

A change in plans requires me to park (at slip or on the hard) a 46' ketch for a month or two, starting immediately. Any suggestions as to economical places to do this would be greatly appreciated. Location: Eastern Long Island Sound to Portsmouth, NH.

Thank you.

No particular recommendations, just a consideration. Even though New England is not a primary target, we usually get at least one near miss hurricane each year that warrants hauling decent boats out of the water. The older boats tend to stay in the water in the hope that insurance will pay out!!
Also, you are looking for dock space at the peak of the season. You might consider pre-empting the hurricane issue and save money by storing on the hard if you plan to leave the boat for a couple of months. Also provides opportunity for bottom work.

Just a quick thought regarding hurricanes. When Sandy passed through last year all the boats at local marinas that were on the hard got picked up by the storm surge and deposited in a big pile. The boats in the water at floating docks faired much better, except of course the boats at the floating dock with piles too short for the surge. Some of them sank when they got crushed by the floating docks that lifted off the piles.

Try "Jack's Marine" in Shelter Island, NY for a reasonably priced mooring or Brewer's in Greenport, NY for hard or wet slips.
