Saint Martin is a dependancy of the French overseas "Département" (DOM) of Guadeloupe.
I believe that South Africans must have a visa to travel to the French overseas départements.

The Dutch require a visa of all persons other than EU, USA, or Canadian passport holders. See here:

The French have a more wide-ranging set of exemptions, but SA is not among them, see here:

So, unless you qualify under the crew exemptions (for merchant ships)...
