Re: rio dulce to trinidad

Well it's almost 400 miles from Isla to FL and it takes at least 2 days for the sea state to calm down in the Yucatan Straight after a front. I want 4 days of good conditions to sail that passage, so it's like you need a 7 day forecast. Then you need to check out. It might be sometime near Easter and who how many days the port offices will be closed. You may need a leap of faith for the last day to KW.

Re: rio dulce to trinidad

The Yucatan Channel can get nasty. Another advantage of going via S Cuba would be the shorter window required.

S Cuba is on my list. Ive cruised the N coast, but not the S.

Re: rio dulce to trinidad

It would only take 24hrs to sail from Isla Mujeres to the SW coast of Cuba. After that you would be safe until you made the real S coast of Cuba. Major short cut if it all went well.
