Rodney Bay Hotels

Hello to you all,

I have a one-way charter (St. Lucia to Grenada) booked via The Moorings this Nov/Dec. Since we did this trip last, they've moved their base from Marigot to Rodney Bay.

As such, we've never sailed or stayed in Rodney Bay and when I called the Moorings to try and book the hotel at their base and I was informed they don't have one and they didn't have any suggestions.

So I'm looking to see if anyone has recommendations on staying in/around Rodney Bay? Our total crew will be 9 and of importance to us is having easy access (minimal transfer) to the base on the day we'd be taking control of the vessel. (after the briefings and such).

Also of note would be any experience on where the new moorings base is and what crew members are able to do that morning during the capt. briefing (ie- shopping, drinking, etc). I've scanned satellite imagery of the bay and it doesn't appear to have been updated since The Moorings moved their operations here...but I do see that the IGY Marina facility is nearby.

thanks for your help,
-Scott

Re: Rodney Bay Hotels

We needed a hotel for one night there, after putting our boat on the hard so we could fly back to the States for Christmas. We ended up at the Bay Garden Resort. It was nice, clean and comfortable. This was about 9 years ago, so things could have changed, but you can probably find reviews on TripAdvisor or the like.

Re: Rodney Bay Hotels

Hi Scott,

I’ve spoken to our base manager in St. Lucia and she had a couple of recommendations for you:

Bay Garden Beach Resort: BAY GARDENS BEACH RESORT - Bay Gardens ResortsBay Gardens Resorts
Coco Palm: Welcome to Coco Palm - Rodney Bay Village

The new base is about five minutes away by taxi from a market area with a range of shops and bars, as well as a large supermarket (Super J). Your crew will be able to have a drink and do some souvenir shopping here.

I’m sorry to hear we weren’t able to answer your question when you phoned us – I have shared this information with the business for future reference.

If you have any more questions, please let me know.

Otherwise, I hope you have a great time!

Kind regards,

Claire

Re: Rodney Bay Hotels

Hi Scott,

I can't see exactly where the Moorings base is, either, but I would expect it to be in the IGY Marina.

Many folks want their room right near the base so theres no hassle.

Sure, Bay Gardens is sensational, but you can't walk to the Marina.
But there is a place right in the marina precinct. Coco Palms
Welcome to Coco Palm- An All Inclusive Boutique Hotel in Rodney Bay St.Lucia note there are two properties, you want the one in the marina.

But if you dont mind the taxi stuff Bay Gardens is right on Rodney Bay... But so will you be as soon as you get your boat....

Btw, do not anchor in front of the little village on the north side of the channel into the marina. Its not secure. People swim out at night. The rest of the area is safe and is really very lovely.

Re: Rodney Bay Hotels

There are many resorts on the beach from Rodney Bay. What's the problem?
