Route Key Largo to Tampa (Davis Island)

My daughter's high school sailing team has some regattas in Tampa/St. Pete scheduled and I am contemplating taking our boat from our home dock in Key Largo up to Tampa (Davis Island) for some occasional weekends. We'll watch the regatta from the water and act as a platform for the other parents to watch.

I've not made that trip before and am a bit curious what the best routes are.

We are under power and draw 2.5 feet with an air draft of 14 feet.

Thanks all!

Run South to Marathon, head to Flamingo via Man-o-War, If nice go outside Cape Romano to Marco, inside VIA Coon Key and Marco River if rough. You can go back in at Ft Myers Beach and ICW all the way to Tampa then.
