Route Planning: Chub to Palm Cay Marina

When planning a passage from Chub Cay to Palm Cay Marina on the Southeastern end of New Providence, what is the preferred route? Round the island's Western shore and navigate through the shallow water of the White Banks, or come around the Eastern end through Hanover Sound/Porgee Rocks?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Dave

(I have 4'9" draft. Thx)

Re: Route Planning: Chub to Palm Cay Marina

Personally, I'd take the east route. The last couple years we've sailed out of Palm Cay marina heading to the Exumas. We like to start and end the crossing at Rose Island east of New Providence. It's pretty simple to round that SE tip, though I prefer decent light so you can steer around the worst of the coral heads. There are way more of those along the southern shore, so approaching from the west might be slower and demand more attention on the helm. At 4'9" you're probably fine, but they all look ominous and you just can't drive right over and hope they are deep enough.

Thanks, Brian. That is exactly the type of data I was hoping for.
