Safe Place in Brazil to Leave Boat

Hello all,

Firstly wanted to say hello - this is my first post here on this forum.

My wife and I are in the last stages of prep for our circumnav. We have just purchased a Trisbal 42 (Aluminum Sloop) in Cape Town.

As most of you know we need to get her out of there before the weather gets too bad so we are taking her across to Brazil in March to leave her for a bit. We were going to leave her until June but now it looks like we have a little first mate coming our way so we wanted to leave it until December to give us a couple months to adapt before jumping on the boat...

...anyway, we are looking at the Bahia area and have read both the relevant cruising guides and Noonsite about the marinas in the area. I was hoping that some of you might have personal experience iwth the marinas there and know which ones were more appropriate in terms of safety and cost for leaving a vessel for a long period.

The questions about cruising with a little one will come later...

thanks in advance

-jc

Hi JC!! I plan to buy a boat in Brazil and sail North to the Caribbean. but probably start from a bit more South, Rio de janeiro. Right now I am in Uganda, but going to Brazil in December. How are your plans going?

cheers, Marcelo
