If you didn't already stop at Cambridge or Oxford, back-tracking a bit to do that wouldn't be out of the question. Up to a week in Cambridge, maybe, and 2-3 days in Oxford...

And an overnight stop in Knapp's Narrows on the way out of the Choptank could be entertaining; lots of boat traffic moving one direction or the other to watch. (Although pay attention to depths through there; I've read they've started dredging again, on the west side I think...)

Then you might decide to stop at Kent Narrows for a day or two on your way up... and/or back into various anchorages on the Miles, Wye, and Wye East Rivers. (Speaking of anchorages, you might look for a copy of Cruising the Chesapeake, a Gunkholer's Guide by Bill Shellenberger.)

Then backtrack down around the southern tip of Kent Island to head for Deale and/or Galesville... and/or the Rhode River anchorages...

Annapolis, as other have said... either in Spa Creek or Back Creek (anchor or mooring balls), and/or even Harness Creek (anchor) on the South River.

Re: Stops heading North on the Chesapeake

Thank you chef2sail!

I too can vouch for Utch’s Marina. We spent a couple of days there on our way south. Great marina; nice staff, good facilities & as you stated; relatively inexpensive!

Likewise, Northport is one of our favorite stops - great town dock, good resturants, easy walk to laundry, etc. and not far from our favorite anchorage in Northport Bay.

Newport was also nice - stayed at Goat Island Marina on our way north to Provincetown. Walked around the town, enjoyed some good food, etc.

Thanks again for all the great suggestions!

Regards,
