Tender input...

A little different situation for me. live aboard on a 53' Hatteras motor yacht. rehabbed the boat. I am considering using a Boston Whaler, 15 to 18 foot, and towing it most of the time. My area of travels are the east coast of US, Bahamas, Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico. Two 325 diesels. Wondering if anyone has towed something like this with any problems. Obviously bringing on board for any deep water travels.

Thank you for the input.

Re: Tender input...

We have an 18' Dauntless Whaler as a tender on our 55' Chris Craft with 320hp Detroits. It's ideal as long as you aren't wanting to run fast.

PM if you want to talk specifics, this forum doesn't really gear toward motoryachts and big tenders

Re: Tender input...

The "big boys" tow their tenders/fishing boats all the time, and tenders a lot bigger than you are proposing--and they tow at full speed. 30 even 40 footers behind 150 foot mother ships doing 25 to 30 knots. Never seen a Boston Whaler, but they prefer to spend even more money than that.

Be sure to get a GOOD spectra tow line, tow it far astern well back behind the peak of your wake when running fast, rig a bridle to attach to your big boat. If you will be towing at night, be sure to light it!!!
