Re: Thoughts on stops as we head south?

Brunswick, GA is a nice town. So is St. Marys, GA.

Cumberland Island should not be missed if you like nature, wildlife and beaches.

Last time I went down the ICW I used Active Captain for the first time. Holy cow, it was useful. Very detailed and current information/reviews about anchorages, marinas, shoaling, etc. I discovered a few anchorages using it that I would have never tried/found otherwise.
Yep, sounds like the same spot!
I've been looking at Active Captain & will also be getting a copy of Skipper Bob's Anchorages... Thanks again!

Thank you... on the list!

Yes, we'll head back North again in the spring... Maine for the Summer.

We really enjoyed Beaufort, SC. A bit of a trip up the river but we anchored and stayed at Lady's Island Marina and loved it.

Lady's Island Marina is a half mile or less off the ICW.

Downtown Beaufort Marina gives you access to the historic town, restaurants, bars, etc. It's becoming a bit run down though (the marina, not the town). Next to the Marina is a free day use only dock. We often stop there for a few hours and then move down the river past the mooring field and around the bend and anchor to the left of the channel past the sand bar.

Lady's Island Marina gives you walking access to a grocery store, drug store, restaurants, bars and a nail salon. You can anchor before the marina near the boat landing and take your dinghy to the boat ramp if that's your "thing".

Keep in mind that a major hurricane past through this area a week ago. Call before you make any plans and expect damage.

Thank you both, we'll definitely add Beaufort, SC to our list!
And yes, it's looking to be an interesting year with all the Irma related issues... but then again, minor inconveniences for us as compared to the folks that are dealing with them directly.
