Turks & Caicos North Coast

All,

I'm headed south via Bahamas and T&C in November. Is it reasonable to sail to Blue Haven Marina (possibly anchoring south of it), and then sail via the north coast, east and south to either Grand Turk or South Caicos (Cockburn Harbor). I know most people do this via Sandbore, Sapodilla Bay and on across the banks, but I draw 5.5 feet, and I'm not feeling great about it after talking to a guy last month who did the banks crossing. Hitting a coral head sucks.

Anyone have experience going around the north side?
