USVI vs BVI

I've done a number of bareboat charters in the BVI and am considering the USVI. I'd love to hear from those who have done both and can compare them.

A much different experience than BVI’s for sure. St John has some great, quiet anchorage. Not a fan of the St Thomas anchorages we visited. Definitely give it a try!

I’ve done numerous BVI and 1 USVI charter. It was great and I recommend it. St. John and St.Croix are both worthwhile. St. Croix has real good diving and St. John has a string of great bays with Park mooring balls. I’d say it is less about going ashore for bars and restaurants and shopping than the BVIs

Get a recent copy of the book Cruising the Virgin Islands, and I feel that it is pretty accurate.

USVI has extremes Charlote Amalie has night life, K Mart, Cruise ships etc, St Croix more remote, St John national parks good harbours not nearly as crowded as BVI, US laws apply. If you can stretch it to the Spanish Virgin Island there are some beautiful and interesting things to do there too, gets crowded on week ends with day boats from PR.
