Where to haul out?

Good Day All,

I am looking for a place to haul out in the Caribbean outside of the hurricane belt to finish my refit. I am currently in Trinidad and I can’t afford the time or freedom chips required to do a two week quarantine every time I want to go to my boat to work. I am vaccinated.

Any recommendations on good yards that will let me do some of the work but also has skilled craftsmen and decent security?

My boat is 54ft and just under 30 tons.

Thanks in advance!
Jim

Pretty safe up to Cat III
Jolly Harbor, Antigua, DIY good trades, moderate access to stuff, not cheap.
Rodney Bay, St Lucia

Almost out of the zone, Grenada but not all yards allow DIY

Curaçao. Out of the zone. I’ve never been there.

Re: Where to haul out?

I'm in Rodney Bay, St. Lucia right now and it is nice and protected and I can imagine hauling out here. Entry restrictions to COVID for vaccinated travelers are good with no quarantine. Labor is cheap, but parts are expensive.

Antigua currently has restrictive COVID rules, and I've kept my old boat at Jolly before. I am thinking of using the North Sound Marina for haulout and storage if conditions get better.

So far I am tending towards Grenada for several reasons - price, storm safety and flight availability as well as COVID rules.
