wifi in san blas?

Hello,
We are currently in Colombia but planning our next country. We would love to spend lots of time (we think) in the san blas but love to stay in touch with family and friends back home. Are there islands/spots with wifi or are there other solutions available? Thanks for any comments!
Regards, Arjan

Correction to Paul L's post: Digicel slow 2G. 3G would be a dream...

Re: wifi in san blas?

You need a Panama Digicel SIM card. They are available in the San Blas in Nargana and Wichubhuaia.

Re: wifi in san blas?

Anchored in Nargana now. Came from Colombia a couple of weeks ago.
You need to buy a local sim. Can get them by pay phones in Nargana. Rates are low.

If you have data plan on your cell-phone there is an extremely slow edge network. You can maybe send a text email or download 20kb GRIB. Could not download emails.

There is an open Cable and Wireless Panama wifi signal in Nargana (from which I am sending this). It is just very slow (could download emails, but not a magazine).

Best,

Tony
