Yellow Bank Exuma depth?

So just going over my charts as well as reading Waterway guides The Bahamas and there seems to be some discrepancies regarding depths across Yellow Bank. The guide says it can be as shallow as 6ft however my Navionics charting on the iPad says it is much deeper, not withstanding the coral heads we would have to dodge. We have used the Navionics data from Belfast Maine all the way to the Abacos and back to the Chesapeake and found the data to be very reliable. Haven't grounded once yet, knock on wood. So what is the actual average depth across the bank on the route from Rose Island to Allan's. 6 ft is a bit tight for us, and the alternative route south from Porgee Rocks 11mi then SE to Allan's looks worse according to Navionics data. Any recent info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Will

Re: Yellow Bank Exuma depth?

As I view my Garmin chart I see one spot marked as 6.8 ft, but as I recall the few times I crossed the yellow bank I never saw anything shallower than 9 feet MLW, maybe not even that. 12-18 being more typical. As you said, the coral heads may be shallower, but I've even sailed over many of those.
