A YouTube Channel dissed my boat !

So, a certain YouTube channel - a guy who talks a lot about different boats and has a fondness for Catalina's - did a video recently about low cost boats for the Bahamas. My boat was one of several shown. It looked like he grabbed the pics from the Yacht World ad. While he liked certain things he then says that the boat was "filthy."

He goes on to say how that can be a bargaining point to get it at a cheaper price. Obviously this was a general comment on buying boats in used and neglected states and so on.

I guess what bugs me is that I keep my boat clean as a whistle. It might get messy when I'm in the middle of a project but in the ads she was as clean as 40 year old boat can get. This dude has never seen my boat in person ! And there is no green growing on my boat. I am onboard often and I scrub her and wipe her down all the time.

I'm sure he's just trying to make a point about boat buying in general but it feels very personal when it's your boat. I think what really bugs me is I tried reaching out to hm and got zero reply in return.

I'm just curious to how someone would feel about it if it was your boat ?

Is he not just stating that it is harder to sell a dirty boat?
Maybe I missed it but did not appreciate any disparaging remarks about the brand or build quality.

Or was that your actual boat?

Everybody's boat gets dirty from time to time even the dock queens.
I really don't think you have anything to be upset about.
Save your worry for storms, lightning strikes and things that break.

I've watched a few video's of that clown. I wouldn't say he speaks with any great accuracy.

Yeah, it just bugged me. I was saying on the other forum that - like a lot of sailors I think - my boat is my baby and it felt like someone took a swipe at her. My reaction is to defend her. As in "Hey pal, if you gotta problem we can take this outside and settle it !"

It's fine I guess, some Tubers have to make up some drama. It's like watching Eustace on the show Mountain Men.

with most youtube/e-beggars there certainly is a lot of nonsense uploaded however a youtube video i watched saved me hundreds of dollars when the video posted stated the average amount of hours the job should take. with the information youtube provided i realized the mechanic had overcharged me. after viewing the video i canvassed a couple of other mechanics and they also said the bill was way to much. the unscrupulous mechanic gave me a new, fair bill which i paid.

Not watching YouTube sailing channels is like living under a rock. Come on, you simply have to watch channels like Tally Ho, Duracell etc. for the sake of learning alone, but even channels like Delos, Uma etc. are highly entertaining and 90% of CF members would learn from every episode.

Exactly why I get into rumbles on the forum. When you have built it with your own hands think about how much worse that is. It’s inconceivable how much it angers you to have your boat attacked when you built it from scratch.

I am with you on that. People should not have put your boat on there without your permission and then definitely not have trash talked at the same time.
