Adding pockets to a dodger or sprayhood

Thinking of adding some small pockets to the inside "wings" of my dodger, I am looking for ideas. Anyone done this? Pitfalls to be avoided? Pics of what you did would be most helpful.

Re: Adding pockets to a dodger or sprayhood

My first thought is to ask: what do you plan to put into these pockets?

I have had a dodger on my boat for 25 years and never thought of this as a necessity or even a desire, hence, my question.

Little stuff like headlamp, sunscreen, maybe handheld VHF, etc. If there is storage space available, stuff will appear that will go in it.

Hmmmm....might ruin the drape of the side curtains. Also, sewing might allow water to wick inside, following the thread, dampening articles in the pockets.
Perhaps fashion pockets to attach elsewhere....hang from frame, attach to bulkhead?

Here is an alternative to modifying your dodger.

Probably a difficult fit if you have a table connected to your pedestal.

Hmm, my thoughts too, but it depends if you sail in rainy locations. However, velcro patches would be an interesting alternative. We bought a packet of 1.5x3" off Amazon needing just a couple. We have now found uses for all them and need to order more. The sticky backed ones really are quite sticky and would certainly hold small pockets inside a sprayhood or on the side of a dodger.
