Advice

I have an 1980 36' Union polaris cutter. I liveaboard and sail quite often in san diego ca. I dont currently have a staysail so whenever I tack I have to furl the headsail so it'll come around the staysail shroud. Im thinking of taking the staysail shroud out until I can afford a new sail. This will allow me to tack easier. Anyone see this as a bad idea?

Re: Advice

If you're not using a staysail, there is no need for the inner forestay to be rigged up. You could definitely take it out.

Also- sweet boat. A friend of mine has a 1986 Union Polaris down the dock from me and I am a big fan of the boat. Interesting history and great design.
