Re: Advice buy line

You must give us more information.
Sta-set might be good, depending on what sort of boat you have. Dyneema cored might be better, depending on what you want it to do.
West Marine is a purveyor of rope. So is Defender, Hamilton Marine, RigPro, R&W Ropes, Nance and Underwood, Jamestown Distributors......your location might help people advise you better.

West marine is expensive so I was looking for a cheaper but dependable vendor.

Re: Advice buy line

With so many online options, it's easy to compare prices for the same product. For example, West Marine, Defender, R&W Ropes and Jamestown Distributors all carry New England Ropes' Sta-set. They all do business online. They're all dependable. Easy peasy.
By the time you add in shipping, walking into West Marine might be the cheapest.

Re: Advice buy line

Sta-set works fine but has a little more stretch than I like on a halyard over 100', I shifted to XLS and now I'm using MLX3 which I find I can often downsize and get improved performance. I'm in CA also, lately I've been getting line from Defender, shipping is a bitch, and it can be a little slow but price still better than locally. One place I check is the clearance aisle at sailboatowners, they are up north and shipping is pretty quick to us.
