Advice on dealing with Catalyst for Bristol Varnish

Hi,

While Bristol varnish covers well and withstands weather, I have had issues working with the catalyst.

The catalyst is proprietary and comes in a glass bottle with a metal screw top. As I have never been able to use a full pint at a time, I'm always measuring 8 parts of the urethane to 1 part of catalyst, often in small quantities as when you mix it you have to use it up in about half an hour.

Specifically, the metal cap often is "frozen" to the glass container. I have learned to clean the cap carefully with acetone. However, it seems that despite my efforts, the cap can stick to the glass. When I use it next time, in perhaps a month or so, the cap is stuck.

Does anyone know if I could use something like saran wrap between the cap and the glass bottle?

Thanks for any thoughts,

Armand

Have not tried it with Bristol, but I decant the hardener for Sterling paint into plastic squeeze bottles.
It makes easy no-mess usage of small quantities.
No clean-up required.
