advice on thruhulls

I have three plastic tru hulls above water.

One for bildge, one for fuel vent and one for hand pump.

My feeling is even if they are above water, they may be below water when sailing so I think it is safer to replace them with sea cocks.

What does every one think ? Maybe sufficient just to add loops or anti siphons ?

Thanks in advance,

Re: advice on thruhulls

All three must have anti-siphons and loops above the water level when the boat is healed.

Many fuel vent fittings have a built in anti-siphon but you also need the loop.

A seacock on these doesn't help much because it needs to be open underway.

Check that the hoses are in good shape. Replace if any cracking or hard spots - and consider replacing anyways at 10 years. Double clamp. Check clamps yearly.

Keep a tub or two of stayafloat onboard. Better than wooden plugs as it will plug a crack in a hose or fitting too.
