Albany NY to Lake Michigan recommendations?

Unfortunately for me,one of the locks still requiring maintenance is C12,the last one before lake Champlain ! I could get to within sight of the lake but not access it. Maybe things will change as the months go by.

Today, I received this response from the New York State Canal Corporation:

Thank you for taking the time to write to the NYS Canal Corporation with your inquiry. I apologize for the delay in my response.

In an effort to do our part to flatten the curve, we halted all non-essential projects across the Canal system and throughout NYPA (our parent organization) until further notice. However, to support the Canal’s continued use as a prime recreational waterway, we are currently evaluating operational options to ensure New Yorkers will have access to the Canal system this year. We recognize that this is an extraordinarily difficult time and are sensitive to potential hardships Canal stakeholders, New Yorkers and many others, may experience. The situation with COVID-19 is ever-evolving and we are trying to adapt our plans accordingly.

I recommend signing up for our Notice to Mariners alerts and following all Canals pages on social media, all of which can be done by visiting our website.

Thanks! I signed up for the NtM. As I mentioned in an earlier post I am also looking for a decent trailer in case the transit through the Canal falls through.

As an update to the COVID situation here in Wisconsin: They've relaxed restrictions a little. Golf courses are open - but not clubhouses. Social distancing is required. Our yacht club is still closed, but we are putting in boats, by appointment. The city owned docks are open, but social distancing is required, and they only want 10 people on the dock & boats at any one time. Not sure how that's supposed to work; how is one supposed to know how many people are on the 'dock' if they are inside their boat? It's essentially unenforceable. The big thing is the social distancing. No dock parties for a while.

The area Northeast of the Manitou Passage in Lake michigan; below Beaver Island, ALWAYS gets significantly bigger waves due to shoaling. It's only going to be an issue if the wind is getting up in the 15 knot range. When I say issue I do mean gnarly patches of tightly packed waves.
