Annapolis (or not Annapolis) marinas

hey all,
probably a topic beat to death but it's so dynamic I wanted to post it. Does anyone know some good value deepwater marinas around Annapolis, or even north or south? With travel the way it is my boat is suffering disuse, and our marina inexplicably raised rates 10% after a long period (before last year) of steady, fair rates. It would be nice to save a few a grand... lord knows I've lost a lot this year.

any jems out there?

I would also consider dry sailing but for a 35' sloop haven't found any with reasonable launch and storage fees to make that happen.

Thanks!

Draw a 3 mile circle around Annapolis. Avoid it!

You might check Holiday Point Marina in Selby Bay on the South River. I don't know about their rates, though...

ActiveCaptain and Waterway Guide info may help identify and consider other candidates...

Affordable and Annapolis do not go together.

How much “not Annapolis”? Solomons (south)? Upper Bay?

Check on Kent Island. I've been at Castle Harbor for 13 years and love it! Great access to The Eastern Bay, Chester River or main Bay, with a nice pub at her gate! You learn when to time the bridge. All and all a great place!

That was exactly what I about to say. Check on Kent Island.

Re: Annapolis (or not Annapolis) marinas

Mate-
4’9 does not require a deep draft marina around these parts. You might want to check with Oak Harbor Marina in Pasadena. They’re off the Patapsco River just outside of Baltimore, seem to have reasonable rates, great service if you need it & are just good all around guys (410-255-4070).

Another Annapolis venue would be Whitehall Marina. Very picturesque, family operation; nice & well managed. Just north & east of Annapolis, call John Whitehall (410-757-4819).

You should find both reasonably priced and very accommodating. Personally, I’d stay away from the Eastern Shore simply because it is a bear to get there in the summer traffic. We draw 5’9 and have not had issues at either place assuming we pay attention to the charts.
