Anybody been to Cuba recently?

Would like to go to Cuba for Christmas later this year. I know the Trump years messed this up for us general sailors. Anybody been lately and any advice, tricks, knowledge or groveling techniques? I know there are commercial flights from Miami as I recently went thru the airport there.

If you go via Mexico City, you do not need to tell the US State Dept. The Cubans will stamp your visa on a loose sheet of paper so it will not be in your passport when you return to the US.

Re: Anybody been to Cuba recently?

before covid you could just go and ask them to stamp a paper inserted you could remove before returning to the us

cuba has surpassed the us in life expectancy with a tiny fraction of the budget and unfair embargo

Re: Anybody been to Cuba recently?

We were planning to go this past winter but changed to bahamas because of 3 reasons.
1 as you stated, the usa government messed with the embargo status a bit. So it became a little more complicated for cuba, import wise.
2 covid protocols were developing and changing lots
3 the dropping of the dual currency, and big fluctuations in value of the peso.
We ended up staying in the bahamas all winter instead. We do hope to go this coming winter, but will wait and see how things go.
On facebook there is a group called cuba land and sea. Lots of good info on there, and several members just returning from cuba.
As a side note, we are canadian. So we have no restrictions about visiting cuba.

US life expectancy is a function of poor decisions about eating habits and being overweight. However, it is much easier to blame it on poor/expensive health care.

Don't mistake life EXPECTANCY with life SPAN. Different things.

Life expectancy is basically an average total number of human years alize divided by number of live births or similar.

Life span is the amount of time an adult can expect to live.

Life expectancy has dramatically improved since medieval times particularly in the developed word simply by greatly reducing infant and child mortality (the US has the 2nd WORST infant mortality in that group btw, beaten only by Romania).

Life span, once you enter adulthood, hasn't changed much.

Re: Anybody been to Cuba recently?

The one and only.

People think I died but the truth is that I’m stuck in the US. I took a trip to Miami to play dominos with some old revolutionary friends when Trump shut down the boarder.

Just my luck!

I’d be interested in getting back to the OPs original questions so that I may return home.

Re: Anybody been to Cuba recently?

It would be illegal for an American to visit Cuba with very few exceptions.

As to entry, well there is the quarantine to contend with.

Re: Anybody been to Cuba recently?

Sailing Into Freedom YouTube Channel has been cruising there over the winter. You might find some tips in their videos in relation to the actual cruising and on island situation.

NB: they are not US citizens. Also one of them is a fluent spanish speaker.

Re: Anybody been to Cuba recently?

Check with the US State department. Seriously. The rules regarding US citizens, travel, and American dollars, change frequently. Recently Cuba has disallowed the sending of US dollars into the country: now funds must be sent in Euros or Canadian. Mailing things has also been restricted; I had to secure a special visa before boarding a flight two years ago--no telling what things are like now.
