Are there any public moorings on the Brisbane river ? (Australia)

Are there any public moorings or buoys that u can tie to ,or good anchorages preferably near the cruise terminal, been on the bay for thirty years but havn't really had anything to do with the river, some input would be great.

Hi Kid!

The only things that I know of are near the Botanical Gardens in the city. I think these were for visitors put in about 30 years ago. Paul from Great Circle Life rafts in West End told me he used these when he first bought his boat to Brisbane. Maybe you could contact him if this is suitable.

You can anchor just upstream of the Gateway Bridge.

But.... the hidden secret of Brisbane is New Farm Park.... with two free WIFI networks, the closest hardware, supermarket and PO to any waterway in the area, free BBQs, free water etc etcetera .

So why don't more yachties anchor here??

Because there is no dinghy dock and no real beach. Therefore you need a rigid dinghy. And most yachties these days have deflatables.

What do YOU have?

Re: Are there any public moorings on the Brisbane river ? (Australia)

G'day Jimbo,
Good to know!! I haven't been over there for a few years, we're in the west at the moment and trying really hard to get the boat over there before the onset of winter here. The weather here is already rubbish, but may get a window next month to get across the bottom. Last year it was good till May/June, but has turned already.
To your question - we have a rigid bottom inflatable from Swift on the Gold Coast.
