Assessment after lighting strike or nearby lighting strike

During passage today we either were hit by lighting or lighting hit nearby.

Wind instruments, depth instruments and GPS would not shut off until battery disconnected.

What do I need to check until I know that its safe to continue passage?

Hull integrity. Check for water in the bilge.

Re: Assessment after lighting strike or nearby lighting strike

Checking the through hulls is very important, of course; however, ultimately, you will have to check every single thing that works via electricity, and some of it may have to be replaced, some of it large dollar stuff like autopilots, but also AIS, VHF, phones even battery operated stuff. Check all of it. Then work out how to get stuff to turn off. Might think about checking the anenometer, to see if it is still close to right. (You need to find somewhere you get get live indication from a calibrated one and you are very close to it, and it is somewhat similar to your mast height--a big pita to find! But, maybe someone at a local airport can help you.)

Sorry for the misfortune.
