Re: Australian Tax Help

I imported mine from Fiji, Arrived in Bundaberg, I had 28 days to pay customs,

I was restricted to the Burnett river, I could live on it, But not allowed to pass the heads of the river, That was the only restriction, Till I paid the money over, You can pay at the customs office in Bundaberg,
They do take Visa cards,

They would instantly seize my boat if I did pass the heads, and they were quite definate about that one,

I paid GST and Pest inspection, Customs Charges, No Duty, Its USA Built,,

I would suggest you get a Loan for the 7 Grand or so thats due, Before you get here,

Banks will give you an unsecured loan for that amount,

Customs have a web site with all the info on it, Customs.com.au,

They are very helpfull, They Will bend over backwards to help you, If you ask,

Try and cheat them, You will be in deep ****, They are not stupid, So dont try to Con them,
You will lose your boat, and a very big fine on top of it,

I am an Australian Resident also,

Re: Australian Tax Help

We had to wait for AQIS to clear our boat before it was allowed to be imported and then paid the duty. It used to be that you didn't have to import the boat to sell it, that is once it was sold in Oz then duty was payable. Don't know if this still applies.
