Avon Rover 3.4 Rib

I have an Avon Rover 3.4 Rib and the tubes are about done. Is there a place I can buy new tubes for one of these? I found one place in the UK, but would only do the install themselves. I just want the tubes and i will put them on.

thanks

Re: Avon Rover 3.4 Rib

my inflatable repair guy told me it would be cost prohibitive to put new tubes on such a small boat
if you decide to do this I'm sure if you contact Avon they can lead you in the right direction

Re: Avon Rover 3.4 Rib

I do hear what you are saying. I am in the same position with my Old achillies.the tubes have become porous with multiple pinholes leaking. I just order the product you inject into the tubes that is supposed to seal from the inside. Wish me luck. if you do find a decent price on the role of hypalon material please let me know. I just bought a section 1 foot by 2 foot at the cost of $100

I would also add Avon move away from the basic RIB product line (when they were bought out?). Had an Avon which I really liked but finding parts became increasingly more expensive, time to retire the old girl!

I have the same model, And even with a cover after years of use, she is a tired old girl. Is daily pumping of your dinghy considered exercise?

I call them "unflatables".

Re: Avon Rover 3.4 Rib

OK, so one might say Avon is "down the tube" so to speak . That being the case, what is the best quality inflatable to be considering for a dinghy & which ones to steer clear of? . . . I'm in the market for a small one eg: about 6' - 7' max. Are there any manufacturers in Canada?

Re: Avon Rover 3.4 Rib

Avon products are no longer made. Such a shame. My Avon was the best dinghy I ever owned.

You can still buy Avon parts from anyone who sells Zodiac parts.

Re: Avon Rover 3.4 Rib

The key ingredient in the mix is the material - go for Hypalon tubes if you can find them. PVC does deteriorate in sunlight.
Many years ago, I saw a report on filling a porous inflatable with expanding foam. Seemed to work a treat, but a tad difficult to deflate at any time in the future.
