I'm not sure I understand the second part of your plan to "route offshore to avoid counter current". I would continue along the Abacos (you've got lots of suggestions of stops), or go from the Exumas up the Providence channel to the Berry Islands (Great Harbor Cay) and on to West End on Grand Bahamas. Either way, then get enough west to be firmly in the north flowing Gulf Stream and ride it most of the way to Charleston. The counter currents will be well to your East.

The only rule is to never be in the gulf stream in a northerly wind as the seas are nasty. Southerly's predominate in May but there's still the occasional norther to avoid.

It's Warderick Wells, not Waderick Wells. It never has been Waderick Wells, it never will be Waderick Wells.
