So.... basically the message from Lymington on how to counter pirates is to learn how to say....
"Hey Guys... hows it going... would you like coffee or tea.... Milk... Sugar..." in Somali...
Right I'm off to order an English to Somali dictionary asap..

Yes, I plan to cook some authentic Mexican food from my old family recipies for them. Probably chicken enchiladas, beans & rice. I'll make some margaritas as well. Think they'll bring some fresh limes?

Here's how you counter a pirate attack-

I'm not sure what you'd empty first: the ammo box or the battery bank.

Re: BBC how to counter a priate attack

What is needed is several "Q" ships, "Q" yachts sailing in those waters to entice the pirate to try and raid said "Q" vessels.
Once the pirates are in range and their intentions clear... You open up with Ma-duce, and other weapons for extrime termination. It could become a war of exscalation. But we do have the bigger weapons. Now if only our Navies were allowed to cut loose as they should. But the various countries' leaders really need the brass B@lls to give the orders.

My response is to have 2 12 bore semi-auto loaded with 8 rounds of doble-ought. Until I get a .50 Cal. that is. If that doesn't work, who cares, you have to die of something. Might as well do it right and take some with you. Nelson and Cunningham would approve.

Agreed, but said countries seem to be run by lawyers, who tell our elected representatives what they're allowed to do now.

You can't shoot armed terrorists on the high seas!
You have to capture them (at great risk to our military personel), bring them back here (at great expense) give them a fair trial (also at great expense) & then imprison them for 30 years (at huge expense). But hey, it keeps the lawyers employed, don't it?

I watched the video clip and I noticed that the gun was pointing right at the camera and firing heaps of bullets but none of them hit the camera. What? Cheap junk! I wouldn't trust one of them to protect my yacht. Better off trying to source one of the old Russian sub nuclear missiles. Cheapest is to get the missile minus the warhead, which is fantastic as ya don't really want a biggie going off close to ya yacht anyway.

Here in the U.S. something on the order of 90% or our lawmakers worked as lawyers before getting into politics. Is it any wonder that most of our laws should be named "The Attorney Full Employment Act"?

Imagine if 90% of our lawmakers were plumbers. You would be required to hire a plumber to come to your house and flush the toilet for you!

Wouldn't you need to hire two? So they could present arguments as to whether or not the toilet needing flushing, check the evidence etc?
