Best place in Indo/Thailand to replace engines

Hi, looking to replace two old diesel engines and fit 2 new diesel engines in either Indonesia, Phukut or Langkawi.

Looking for recommendations on:
1. Best location for mechanical expertise to do the job?
2. Best location/marina to haul out for 1-2 months?

Comments and suggestions welcome.

Cheers

Langkawi is probably your best option, reliable engine delivery structure, entry clearance not an ordeal and some pretty good haulout sites with legally operating expat mechanics. Contact Nico and Chris at Yachtworx, they work across the 4 haulout options available on Langkawi…. The same guys do rigging and have a canvas ( awning and dodger, possibly sail repair.) operation as well. The haulout choices are related to how large the vessel is, Bousteads has a lifter in the over 600 ton range and a smaller one as well, Northern Shipyard has an under 600 ton lifter, Rebak island has a pretty good wide lifter, but more for private cruising vessels up to 55 or 60 feet , maybe slightly longer. B&V marine has the smallest capacity lifter and I think only monohull or small cat capability, for more accurate info contact the specific haulout by phone or email.
Also, Langkawi is a duty free island so beer, wine and spirits are fairly cheap as is tobacco and for some reason , chocolate.

Rebak Marina is your place to go. Easy to import motors etc and Andrew on the island does quality work. Young Irishman.
