To avoid almost all bilge pump problems buy a bilge pump that is not sitting in the bilge to begin with...they look like fresh water pumps with a motor and a belt which moves a diaphragm up and down. Jabsco makes them in several voltages.
Buy a good magnetic switch like super switch. That goes in the bilge. Put a strainer on the suction side. The literature will give you the lift the pump can do.
Your dewatering pump ought to be capable of moving a lot of water and be on a separate magnetic switch not one of the flipper jobs.
You have an excellent boat. My suggestions are not what you will find in most boats but you have something worth keeping and investing in.
