Blue Planet Odyssey takes off in 2014 !

Please pass the word about this 'special' sailing rally around the world.

It is spearheaded by Jimmy Cornell, aiming to raise awareness of the global effects of climate change, as rising sea levels threaten to extinguish island communities such as Tuvalu and the Maldives by the end of this century.

Participants will depart at different times from different areas around the world ... so sailors from all continents will sail together in this 2+-year adventure. Departure from Europe in July 2014 ... later from the US and other ports. Some will go the northern route on the NW passage while the bulk of the fleet will sail the southern route.

What makes this rally different is that the participants will be involved in scientific and educational projects ... as well as visiting some remote & threatened areas.

BPO and the fate of many islands communities

I would like more sailors to know about this new rally, launched by Jimmy Cornell, whose books are probably on most of not all the boats associated with this forum....What Jimmy Cornell attempts to achieve with this global event is not only raise awareness of climate change and its effects, but also to show that us, cruising sailors, are concerned about the state of the oceans, and the planet generally, and, above all, about the fate of many islands communities who have - and are receiving us - with so much hospitality and generosity.

Having cruised the world for 40 years, Jimmy believes that it is now our duty to do something for these threatened communities. Having myself cruised for over 20 years, I completely agree with him and thus I am quite excited by this 'special' sailing rally around the world. Please pass the word out as more sailors are encouraged to join!

Blue Planet Odyssey will visit Lombok, Indonesia in 2015

The BPO will cruise Indonesia in October 2015 ... Marina Del Ray in North Lombok will be one of the ports visited ...
After Indonesia, boats will stop in Singapore where participants starting from SE Asia will meet them.

The BPO yachts will be berthed at Medana Bay Marina instead of Marina Del Ray.

Go with the Blue Planet Odyssey through Indonesia in October

If you are in Australia or PNG in September 2015, you might consider joining the BPO in Tual mid-october and go with the BPO rally towards Singapore in December ...

The people in the rally now are great and festivities in Indonesia are going to be nice

Contact me if you like some more info
