'Just curious, which model generator did you get? And where were you able to locate it on your boat?

You're going to love the genset. Hair dryer for your wife, toast in the morning, microwave. Hot water while anchored. We're now planning to change over the lithium batteries in order to take full advantage of the genset.

Here's a picture of our latest luxury item, a mini Divehunter dinghy for snorkeling, freediving and spear fishing. I'll be using it for underwater photography.

Nice! You're going to absolutely love having a generator.

What's next on your luxury bucket list? You know you can't stop there with all that juice.

Ours has a sauna too, we simply close all the windows.

Similarly, I have been seeing that as either an advantage or disadvantage of having a pilothouse boat, depending on whether you are in cold climate or hot one.

WIFI repeater or special antennae (not sure of the proper term) so you can get WIFI from a shore station while anchored out or in a nearby Marina, etc.

Well my stereo died today

Got to fix that and then look into a TV system (one on my wife's projects that I'm going to have to take over if it ever has hope of being completed)

This.

If the hot water is an issue, just move the boat somewhere warmer. When its warm out a nice long cool water shower everyday is a luxury. Water enough to run the washing machine is another luxury.

AIS, don't have don't need. SSB, have but rarely use. Big freezer capable of making ice and freezing thawed items (not just keeping frozen things cold)- that is a luxury I am thankful to own. We spend less than 20% of the time moving the boat. The luxury items that count are the ones used at anchor.

Anchored behind the Twins in Port Ludlow.

Nice to have a keeper, eh?

I have never understood "defrosting" a fridge, or those bozos (NOT you!) who use ice picks either.

Simple: turn the damn thing off for an hour. The food ain't goin' anywhere, the frost is killing the cooling capacity anyway, you are not adding heat to the cold fridge and you save energy. What's not to like?

Re: Boat Luxuries

On our previous boat which had a cold plate, I used a heat gun to defrost the plate.
Took all of 3 minutes.
As with our current boat, we had plenty of solar so it was the easiest and fastest way to defrost.
