Boat transport Florida - Canada overland

Hi All. Need to recover my boat after collision damage in the Caribbean. I can get her to mainland USA and thinking of Florida as a start point for overland trip up to Canada west cost. Having looked a cost about $10,500 seams about the best I can get which seams a lot. Looks like a good service but they use a full sized comercial low loader which is an expensive piece of kit and lots of fuel to move a 7-8 ton load. Boat is 32ft x 10ft 6" and weights about 15,000lbs

What I am thinking is that this is within the towing capacity of a super duty pickup truck with a low bed 5th wheel trailer. I have seen road tests on this year new trucks where they had them racing uphill with bigger campers on the back than my boat!! Although it is a wide load and will need permits will not need escorts. I briefly thought about hiring a rig and doing it myself but never driven in USA or a load that big plus getting permits and insurance... Needs a pro driver familiar with US regs.

Anyone ever heard of someone who gives this sort of service?

Thanks

this will bump your post where maybe someone with some experience can answer it. IMO, you will need professionals for the job. The boat will need to be cradled, and shrink wrapped for the journey, and expect some kind of damage from the wind and vibration.

Had you considered having it repaired in FL, and sailing it home at a later date? or are you planning to fix her once she's back home?

Ann

That seems like a good price for that distance, considering I priced for a Mirrage 33 to be shipped from Nova scotia to Newfoundland and the cost was approx. $8k Granted there was a ferry crossing involved, but we were only talking less than 6oo kilometers of actual rd to travel between pick up and delivery points.

Make sure you contact your insurance and let them know you are road moving, they may not cover that. I wouldn't blatantly depend on the shipping company to have coverage for your boat unless its shown in writting up front. They may get you to sign a waver!!

And I did not buy the Mirrage after because of the shipping cost !!

I would be surprised if you found a cheaper price. That is a long way and out of country for a shipper.
