The Lady Washington and the Hawaian Chiefton are square riggers and were used on the Pirates of Carribaan movies after repainting. We docked with them summer before last and partied around a bonfire and one of my dock mates has 2 boys working on them. You usually find them in Pudget Sound.

Re: boats in the movies

Ok - I didn't want to mention this BUT obviously the time has come to reveal my true identity!

In the 80's Nicole Kidman starred as a youngster in a movie BMX bandits. In one scene she is riding her BMX along a headland in Pittwater NSW Australia. In the background you will see a yellow Traditional 30 motoring about a mile or so out.

I am the guy on the helm in that 15 second shot.

Now, before you all inundate me with autograph requests, please dont, I really value my privacy.

Re: boats in the movies

There was a Formosa 51 called Viking Spirit (in real life) that was used in "50 First Dates". Someone has just bought it and is rigging it for a trip from Hawaii to Guam.

There was a great schooner used in the mini series they made of Jack London's "Seawolf".

Another good looking schooner in "Joe vs the Volcano"... early Tom Hanks movie.

"Dirty Deeds"... Bryan Brown movie. I don't know that you get to see it sailing but you do get to wander around it a bit. Magnificent boat if you've got a couple of million in loose change.

"Message In A Bottle"... Kevin Kosner... I think it was an Alden
