Bosuns chair on C25??

I need to replace my VHF antenna/coax on a newly acquired Catalina 25. It’s in the water and I would like to know if using the bosuns chair is possible/recommended for this small a boat on the water.

I would prefer doing the work without dropping the mast. It would also give me a chance to inspect other stuff while I’m up there.

Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance for any help.

We used a bosun’s chair on our Pearson Lark , 24’, but made sure we had everything set to prevent a roll

Re: Bosuns chair on C25??

Thanks Captain Bob.
I guess I should have included my weight - 150#. I suppose you mean to tie a line from the spreaders to the pier or something like that.

It’s generally calm at the slip and if not, I would delay the project until it is.

Thanks

I think you'll be fine. You'll be trusting your health to that halyard, shackle, turning blocks, winch, cleat, winch grinder and tailer, so look them all over before you go up. It's a 4550# boat with 1900# of ballast.

Yeah, all that stuff looks good except the winch grinder.

It's a fine line with them to make sure they have just enough refreshments to get them involved and not so much that they will screw up and drop me.

Yes, a 150# load is nothing to a halyard and all that gear, but the grinder....hmmmm
