Re: Buying a Boat in Singapore

I have just ordered my lagoon 400 S-2 so it's months before I can sail with you fellers. I am a member at one 15 marina and RSYC. I ordered from Peter from Simpson marine. Right now the best I can do while waiting for my boat is to do as many RYA courses as possible

I have outfitted my new boat with water makers and other essential equipment that can allow me to travel around Thailand and south easy Asian comfortably and anchoring at nice spots for months without needing to move my vessel. If there is other good electronic equipment or things I need to know or tips I hope to hear from you guys.

Carlisle I think I have seen your beautiful boat parked at one marina. Well done! I was jet skiing and I may even have waved a couple of times at you while I saw people on your boat coming in and out of the harbour. Carlisle I was hoping u could enlighten me on something I observed. Whenever I drove into one15 in the past I always drove past the outside guard room(the one that controls traffic into and out off the cove area. Right now whoever I drive by I find the barriers are up and no guards are in sight. Also the big fountain with the dolphins are turned off and basically left dry. What is happening? Is the management there cutting cost?

Yes , I think you may be correct - it's probably a rethink on the value of that particular checkpoint and the fountain

Right now I guess they are saving some money

Yes! We received a mail few months back explaining that the expenses are greater than the revenues... Then they try as far as they can to cut budget.
They proposed also to replace the free shuttle by a paying bus services for the second time: hopefully the residents will again say no.
As new condos will open soon we can hope that it will improve the budget.
However the life in Sentosa Cove is still very nice.

Cheers

+1.

However, there is little value in that check point nowadays. With any luck they will keep it closed.

Maverick, I'll be around next week, hopefully going out sailing. PM if you want to meet up. Must be back for the free beer on Friday though...
