Absolutely, please convince more to leave this terrible place.

However, nowhere is immune to weather, or free from the risk of hurricanes, and the Pamlico marinas are susceptible to wind flooding, because it’s almost a land locked sea. We had a rise of 3’ feet as Nicole went past, but it was anticipated, and we acted accordingly.

The cost of keeping a boat in Florida is rising exponentially, as more craft arrive with more immigrants, and marinas have waiting lists of people willing to pay.
I'm trying to understand this part. More craft arriving with immigrants - are you saying there are too many rich people moving to Florida who want to own boats and are causing prices to rise? Or are you saying immigrants from Cuba are coming to take our marina slips? Or what? Thanks.

Re: Bye Bye Florida

nope, too many Yankees.

Know the the difference between Yankees and Damn Yankees? Yankees come to visit and leave their money. Damn Yankees stay.

Way too many NJ/NY people staying.

Re: Bye Bye Florida

Northern California is a terrible place! The 60 degree winters are brutal on the boat and I have to wear a jacket to boot! Summers reach a scorching 75 degrees on the coast. However, my ranch inland is well over 100 for 3+ weeks, which gives me an excuse to head off to the boat for a few days. San Francisco Bay is very dangerous sailing with 3 foot wind waves and up to 20kts of wind! You have to sail 10 miles between destinations. Then there was the boring Americas cup race i had to endure...how boring!

Yup...I think I'll go to Alaska where I can flourish.

Ok...Our humidity is 50-60%. Florida is 80-90%.

Not even close

Avg in SF is 84% in am and 59% in pm

Avg here is 88% in am and 57% in pm

Facts are important when making judgments

Re: Bye Bye Florida

Overall averages...not just today. We have had torrential downpours all last week. The air is wet right now. From the middle of spring to late fall we do not get any rain, so it's pretty dry...unlike Florida's climate that rains mostly throughout the year and hence...muggy.

California 61.0% 43 44.2°F 18 Colorado 54.1% 46 28.8°F 46 Connecticut 69.2% 31 40.7°F 27 Delaware 70.9% 21 45.8°F 15 Florida 74.5% 2 62.7°F 2

This is one of those childish “ my daddy is bigger than your daddy” arguments. I merely pointed out the fallacy of your comparison. Similarly, it doesn’t rain in Florida “ throughout the year” but in fact rarely rains from October through May, hence the “sunshine state” moniker.

As migration data shows, it appears people generally prefer Florida and are escaping california albeit for more reasons than just the climate.

Re: Bye Bye Florida

You seem to want to be right. It's a trend you and a few others on CF seem to relish in. Having been to Florida a few times, I agree with the OP that you basically sweat your arse off working on a boat there. So go ahead and turn a thread into an argument. It doesn't change the reality of Florida's weather. How big is the AC on your Alden?

dwarfed by the size of the heater(s) on your boat.
