This is likely the cause. Certain boats just react badly to certain bits of swell.

We get some coming into our marina when the wind blows right up the river we're on. It stacks up against the river current and creates some swell in the river that causes a slight surge in the marina basin. Depending on the day, this will typically get the sailboats rolling a bit (narrower, older designs more so, as expected). Most of the powerboats just kinda bob up and down on the swell. But my boat (power), having more rounded underwater sections than most planing hulls and lacking huge chine flats tends to roll right along with the worst of the sailboats (and at a bit faster pace too).

It's odd to look at sometimes on a day like that. We'll look at the boat next to us that's hardly moving, the sailboats with the masts slowly swaying back and forth, then we're rolling like we're sitting beam on in 2 footers despite just a very slight visible water movement.

Yes, it is not uncommon to be anchored here in one of the more exposed anchorages and see one or two boats rolling while the others are fairly still, and the anchorage seems pretty calm. Sometimes it appears to be caused by the wake from a ship that passed 4 or 5 miles away! It is another one of those ocean mysteries!
We are all just floating metronomes...
