Canadian Boat Purchase in FL

I know there some older threads available on this topic, but so much has recently changed.


I am considering the purchase of a Canadian titled vessel. The current owner is a private individual, not a broker, living in Canada.

I have read HORROR stories about this process going south, fast, and expensive!


Can this process be accomplished? I do not believe import duty has been paid. The boat was left a couple of years ago for the Canadians to return and cruise, but in the current environment, they can't afford to keep her,

I prefer not to use a customs broker if I can avoid it,

any thoughts, suggestions, etc always appreciated -
