Canadians Sailing South - Insurance?

Fellow Canadians sailing south or elsewhere outside Canada - where and how do you insure your vessel?

I have been in contact with several Canadian insurance brokers, only to find that their policies are limited to Canadian waters, or north of the 42nd parallel, as one put it.

Only one broker so far has offered what they call “Extended Southern Navigation”, which adds 62% to the regular premium – more if south of Florida.

However, I would like to receive more quotes than one.

Dolphin in Vanvouver will cover you anywhere, but be prepaired for a sticker shock.

Many other Canadian Cruisers I talk with use Lloyd's of London. Shop around world wild as there MANY better options that Canadian companies.
